Privacy Policy
Last updated 4 October 2026
This policy explains what information is collected when you use laptopquiz.co.uk (“LaptopQuiz”, “we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below.
The short version
- The quiz doesn’t ask for your name, email or any account.
- Your answers are kept in the page address, on your own device. We don’t store them.
- We count visits with Ahrefs Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn’t identify you.
- Amazon may set cookies when you click through to it.
Information we collect
- Your quiz answers. They’re stored in the address of the results page (for example
?use=study&budget=1), so you can bookmark or share your results. Your results are worked out in your browser, and we don’t save your answers or link them to you (see visit statistics below). - Server and security logs. Our hosting and content delivery provider, Cloudflare, processes technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, so it can deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running a secure website.
- Emails you send us. If you contact us, we keep your message and email address to reply and to track corrections. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering you. We don’t add you to any mailing list, and we delete correspondence we no longer need.
- Visit statistics. We use Ahrefs Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they use. It doesn’t use cookies or identify you. Your IP address is used only to work out your approximate location (city level) and count unique visits for one day, then discarded, never stored. Page addresses are recorded, so the answers in a results link (for example
?use=study) count towards anonymous totals. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the site.
We don’t use advertising cookies of our own.
Amazon and other third parties
LaptopQuiz takes part in the Amazon EU Associates Programme. Third parties, including Amazon, may serve content and collect information directly from visitors, and may place or recognise cookies on your browser when you click an affiliate link. This lets Amazon credit purchases to our referral. Amazon’s handling of that information is covered by Amazon’s Privacy Notice and its cookie policy.
Links to manufacturer websites take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Fonts
Our fonts are served from our own domain. Loading a page doesn’t send your data to a font provider.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to how we use it. Email hello@laptopquiz.co.uk. If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The site works without them.
Children
LaptopQuiz is not aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.
